WILLCOX, Ariz. (AP) - Cochise County authorities say two Willcox police officers shot and wounded a 69-year-old man after he fired at one of the officers, slightly wounding him.
The county Sheriff's Office says the wounded Willcox man was hospitalized in Tucson for treatment of injuries that don't appear to be life-threatening.
His name wasn't immediately released Friday.
Sheriff's officials say the shooting occurred about 8:30 p.m. Thursday outside a home where the suspect drove after police attempted to stop him for driving without headlights on.
The driver first pulled over and got out of his car, but then got back in and drove off, prompting a police pursuit that ended at the home.
Authorities say the wounded officer was treated at a hospital after a bullet struck his ballistic vest and was deflected.
