PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - It's official. Katy, Emily, Bradley, Kristyl, and Brianna have been adopted, and have taken on the last name of their adoptive parents, Curt and Brenda Heuer, of Prescott Valley.
The couple has been fostering kids for more 12 years, and have seen 52 children go through their home. But these five are here to stay.
The kids -- aged 2, 3, 6, 7, and 9 -- respectively, were adopted after several challenging years.
The five siblings came from an abusive home, where drugs and alcohol were a factor for their parents.
Finding a good home for the kids was difficult as various relatives tried to take them in but couldn't accommodate the stress of having five young children in the home.
Curt and Brenda Heuer officially adopted them on National Adoption Day.
The parents say the kids have really settled in to their new environment, and enjoy family activities like camping and boating.
