TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Federal authorities say a Los Angeles man has been arrested at the southern Arizona border after more than 42 pounds of cocaine was found in his vehicle.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis say the 30-year-old L.A. resident was arrested Tuesday morning after he attempted to cross into Arizona from Mexico.
During a secondary inspection, a narcotics-detection dog alerted authorities to the back of the pickup truck's cab where they found multiple packages of cocaine worth almost $476,000 and weighing 42 pounds.
CBP officers seized the truck and drugs and arrested the suspect for narcotics smuggling and turned him over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations.
The name of the man hasn't been released.
