'Know Snow': ADOT prepares for winter in Arizona

ADOT has 200 snow plows ready to clear the roads when the wintry weather hits up north.

PHOENIX - Winter is coming and the state is getting ready for the snow season in the high country. 

ADOT has 200 snow plows ready to clear the roads when the wintry weather hits up north. 

Tuesday morning, ADOT had snowplows will be on display outside the Traffic Operations Center. 

“Please do not cut off snow plows on the road,” said Doug Nintzel with ADOT. “You should stay 3-4 car lengths behind them.”

ADOT also had a kit that all drivers should have in their car, just in case a road is closed or a driver gets stuck or stranded. This includes:
*Warm clothes: a sweater, gloves and scarf. 
*A blanket
*Snacks
*Water
*Flashlight and batteries 
*First aid kit
*Ice scraper
*Bag or bucket of sand, this can help if you put it under your tire when you get stuck.
