Flagstaff farm to provide therapy for children

New method of therapy to help kids get through tough times Build Bridges Youth Farm.

The Building Bridges Youth Farm is a project centered on helping kids who have been through trauma or come from tough living situations.

Currently in its planning stages, the farm will take up all of five acres of land that was donated earlier this year.

The farm will include many farm animals such as pigs, goats, rabbits, a miniature horse, and even a pot-bellied pig. The idea is that the kids who visit the farm will have a safe place to connect with animals and to do something productive.

The farm is set to open in April of next year.

Officials with the group say their aim is to turn the farm into a mentorship program, where kids who have visited the farm and worked there with the animals and the garden can mentor others who come to visit.

The farm has already raised enough money to cover the startup costs, but officials are asking for help to pay for care for the animals.
