Casa Grande man with machete shot, killed by police

No officers hurt in deadly Casa Grande shooting.

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. - Casa Grande police have identified the man shot and killed by officers Friday night as 48-year-old Gabriel Parker.

According to police, officers arrived at Parker's house near 10th Street and Pinal Avenue after being called because Parker had a knife and was threatening to hurt himself.

After they arrived, he went into the home and came back out with a machete, charging at the officers, police said.

According to PD officials, officers used non-lethal means on Parker, shooting him with a bean bag and using a Taser on him, but neither stopped him.

Officers then shot Parker, killing him.

No officers were injured. The three Officers who discharged their weapons are identified as Bryan Martinez, Jeremy Ybarra and Efren Lujan.  Per CGPD policy, these Officers have been placed on administrative duties at this time.  

The Arizona Department of Public Safety and their agency has taken over the investigation.
