PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona transportation officials want selfish drivers to change their ways.
The state Transportation Department this weekend is conducting a campaign aimed at reducing traffic fatalities by reminding drivers that their actions can have "tragic, yet entirely predictable consequences" for others.
The campaign uses overhead highway signs to display messages noting that drivers' family, friends and neighbors are using the same highways.
Specific behaviors targeted by the campaign include impaired driving, speeding, aggressive driving and distracted driving.
According to the department, the idea behind the campaign is to encourage people to alter their driving habits for the sake of others if they won't do it for themselves.
