63rd annual Prescott courthouse lighting ceremony set for Saturday

County Living magazine lists this Arizona destination as one of America best small towns in Christmas.

PRESCOTT, Ariz. -  Prescott's Christmas parade and 63rd annual courthouse lighting event will take place Saturday, Dec. 2. 

The parade kicks off the festivities at 1 p.m. It is the 35th annual installment of the city's Christmas parade. According to a Facebook event page, this year's theme is, "A Cowboy Christmas."

Following the parade, thousands are expected to gather at the Yavapai County Courthouse Square for the lighting ceremony. 

The Facebook event page for that ceremony says Santa will be taking request from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m, followed by live music and entertainment until the courthouse is lit at 6 p.m. The lights will remain lit through Jan. 14. 

More than 2,400 people have said they are interested in the event on Facebook.
