Glendale PD arrests hit-and-run suspect

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man in the hit-and-run death of a pedestrian who was hit by a truck in Glendale while crossing a street.

Glendale police say 60-year-old Kevin Murphy struck 43-year-old Paul Hernandez on Saturday evening.

Hernandez was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say a witness followed the truck that struck Hernandez and got photos of the vehicle, its license plate and of Murphy.

Murphy has been booked on hit-and-run and other charges.

It's not known whether Murphy has yet been assigned an attorney.

Initially, police identified the victim as a woman. With their Monday release of Hernandez's identification, they clarified that he was a man.
