Chandler police have booked Eric Sands on a manslaughter charge after they determined his daughter's fatal shotgun wound was not self-inflicted.
On June 30, his daughter died after being shot the prior evening.
He was arrested at the time on drug and weapon charges. Sands was a prohibited possessor of firearms.
Sands told investigators he was getting ready for a trip out of town, which police said was for a motorcycle gang conference. He said he was going to sell it there and had placed it on a bed along with ammunition.
Sands said he didn't know how the gun got loaded but he admitted his hand was near the gun when it fired, according to police documents.
He also knew his daughter had been in and out of the room with the gun.
