Arizona's Most Wanted: Jose Sanchez's killer

Jose Sanchez was minding his own business when he was shot and killed last year after four men broke into his home.

It’s been 18 months since Kellie Sanchez’s husband, 47-year-old Jose Sanchez, was brutally murdered in a home invasion.

"I don't understand how you can hurt another family and not feel guilty," said Kellie Sanchez. "I mean, how can you take someone's dad away and not feel guilty," Sanchez said.

It was April 22, 2016, around 2:50 in the afternoon when Phoenix police say four men barged into the Sanchez's condo near 57th Avenue and Camelback Road in Glendale.

"He was in his home minding his own business. He never hurt anybody," Sanchez told 12 News.

"Four subjects in their late teens, early 20s -- they entered the apartment,” said Silent Witness Det. Mike Fisher. "They went into the apartment and ransacked the place.”

He believes the suspects may have been carried out a series of crimes.

"A crew that what was going around committing robberies, home invasions," he said.

Fischer said one of the suspects shot and killed Jose during the robbery.

Investigators say Jose did not know the men and tragically was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

While witnesses saw the men flee the scene, police haven’t been able to identify them.

"I want answers and somebody knows something," Sanchez said.

Sanchez said her husband was a dedicated father and grandfather who, after immigrating to the U.S., worked his way up from working in the fields to eventually going to truck driving school in order to give his family a better life.

A life he was viciously ripped away from.

"When is someone going to speak up and say this is wrong," Sanchez said. "This family should not have to wonder why this happened and if I can't lay down next to my husband, they should not be walking free.”

Police said with four men involved in Jose's murder, they believe one of them has likely talked with a friend or family member about the cases.

Silent Witness is offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest in the murder. You can reach Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS (948-6377).
