Caught on camera: Surprise home ransacked, guns stolen

Thieves caught on camera ransacking home

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Surprise Police are hoping you recognize the two men caught on camera ransacking a home and stealing guns, jewelry and more on June 16, 2017.

It happened in the area of 168th Avenue and Dale Lane.

"It was overwhelming.  I was just shocked," said Misty Mesic, who found the mess.  "I was standing in the middle of it and it took me a few minutes to even realize what had happened, it was so overwhelming.

"Every room in my house -- it's two bedrooms -- were gone through. Furniture was destroyed.  Contents were gone through and taken.

Mesic said the contents add up to about $20,000 to $30,000.  They include TVs, tablets, cell phones, jewelry, clothing and even her husband's underwear.  But what's more concerning to her, is the two burglars somehow broke into the family's gun safe and stole several guns, including handguns and rifles.

"I was just really concerned, I thought -- my God, there are these weapons," Mesic said.  "I don't care if I get anything back, but I mean, the weapons, they (police) should be looking to get them off the street. Clearly these guys don't need weapons."

Surprise Police said they are looking for the two men. They're also investigating to see if they're connected to three other burglaries that happened in the same neighborhood around the same time.

If you recognize the men in the video or have any information about the burglaries, you're asked to contact Surprise Police and reference incident number 170604000.
