Caught on camera: Police search for men who shot, stepped over woman

PHOENIX - Phoenix Police and Silent Witness are asking for your help to find the two men who shot a woman in the arm, then stepped over her as they took off from a Valley restaurant.

The crime happened after two men walked into the Mariscos El Cora Mexican restaurant on 42nd Avenue and Indian School on April 16, 2017. It was about 4:40 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon and the men were caught on camera walking toward the restroom.

“This is a high-quality video,” said Sgt. Jamie Rothschild, who’s with Silent Witness. “You can see the guys very clearly walking through the restaurant.”

Sgt. Rothschild said what happened next is what you can’t see and is appalling.

At some point while the men were in the restroom, one of them pulled out a gun.

“A shot gets fired, that travels through the men's room wall into the female restroom and strikes our victim in the arm,” Sgt. Rothschild said.

That victim is a 39-year-old-woman who stumbled out of the restroom in pain and collapsed on the floor. Then one by one, the men nonchalantly walked out of the restroom and stepped over the woman, who was bleeding on the floor.

“They make zero effort to try to get her any help or help her,” Sgt. Rothschild added.

Then the men sped away in a black, four-door sedan, possibly a Kia Optima. It had black rims and dark windows.

If you recognize the men, you're asked to call Silent Witness at 480-Witness. You can remain anonymous and receive a reward of up to $1,000.
