“[He had] Papers in hand from his insurance company approving the procedure, yet in talking to the provider, the provider said this isn’t going to cover the whole procedure,” said Carrie, a Call 12 for Action volunteer investigator.
Call 12 stepped in and got the situation resolved.
“I don’t know that I’ve ever had response that fast to a problem,” Gartner said.
Call 12 for Action saved him $13,000.
In another case, a Valley man needed help with the contract for his gym membership.
“His credit card shows he paid for two years, but they’re saying, 'no, you only signed a contract for one,'” said Pam, a volunteer investigator with Call 12 for Action.
Our team got the company to see their mistake and even got the consumer an extra year for free. Call 12 for Action saved him $589.
And here’s some good advice for all of us, based on this case.
“Anything you sign you need a copy of, even if it’s in a doctor’s office,” said Pam. “Whatever paper you sign you must get a copy right then and there.”
That includes limos.
After a recent increase in complaints for transportation to special occasions, our Call 12 volunteer investigators advise that consumers should look closely at the contract and pay with a credit card.
“If you find that this company is not doing right by you, you can at least go to the credit card company to dispute the transaction,” said Linda, a Call 12 for Action volunteer investigator.
