Phoenix has hit triple digits for the first time in 2018, according to the National Weather Service.
At 2:48 p.m., the NWS thermometer at Sky Harbor hit 100 degrees.
The NWS says that May 12 is the all-time average first 100-degree day, but since 1981, that average first day has moved up to May 2.
We can expect a lot more of this heat here in Phoenix, as we all know. Since 1981, we have averaged 109 triple-digit heat days in the city.
