QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. - Kids in the southeast Valley are getting into the Olympic spirit, thanks to a creative physical education teacher.

Students at Jack Barnes Elementary School in Queen Creek are learning the finer points of the Winter Games including skeleton, bobsledding and ice hockey.

“It’s just a way to get them excited about the Olympics and just expose them to different activities,” said Barnes Elementary PE teacher, Dan Trageser. “Who knows, maybe we have a 2026 or 2030 Olympian come out of Jack Barnes (Elementary School).”

So far, hockey and bobsledding seem to be the favorite events for these students.

Mr. Trageser hopes that when the games come on 12 News, his students can sit down with their parents and explain how games like Curling, Bob Sledding and the Biathlon work from firsthand knowledge.
