Arizona Cardinals kicker Phil Dawson started the season with issues, but appears to have found a rhythm. And that rhythm led to four field goals in the Cardinals’ 27-24 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, including the game-winner with one second left.

It earned him NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Dawson made all four of his field goal attempts (32, 42, 48 and 57 yards), including connecting on a career-long 57-yard field goal with one second left in regulation to give the Cardinals the three-point victory. Including an extra point, Dawson scored a season-high 13 points in last Sunday’s victory and also had his first special teams tackle of the season.

His 57-yard field goal was the longest game-winning field goal in Cardinals history and is the third-longest field goal in franchise history overall. The 57-yarder was the 40th field goal of at least 50 yards in Dawson’s career, making him just one of six players in NFL history with at least 40 field goals of 50+ yards.

Dawson’s 57-yard field goal was the 19th game-winning kick of his career (including postseason) and second with Arizona. He also had a 30-yard field goal in overtime earlier this season to beat the Colts in Week 2. It was the 19th time in Dawson’s career that he made four field goals in a game.

This is Dawson’s fifth career “Special Teams Player of the Week” selection and first since 2014 when he won the award (Week 5) with the 49ers. He also won the award with San Francisco in 2013 (Week 14) and with Cleveland in 2005 (Week 15) and in 2001 (Week 3). He becomes the seventh kicker in team history to be selected as the NFC “Special Teams Player of the Week.”

Dawson is the fourth different Cardinals player to be selected as “Player of the Week” this season and the first as “Special Teams Player of the Week.” Karlos Dansby was selected as “Defensive Player of the Week” after Arizona’s Week 9 win at San Francisco. Adrian Peterson was selected as “Offensive Player of the Week” after the Cardinals win vs. Tampa Bay in Week 6 and J.J. Nelson was chosen as “Offensive Player of the Week” following the Cardinals Week 2 victory at Indianapolis.
