Cardinals won't change scheme, but will tailor plays for Adrian Peterson

Arians said the Cardinals’ offensive scheme will not change, although Peterson will be asked to do things his comfortable with.

The Arizona Cardinals now have Adrian Peterson as their starting running back. He is expected to bolster the league’s worst running game. But apparently, it will not change anything in terms of offensive scheme.

Bruce Arians believes Peterson is a “good fit” for the Cardinals and he should not have any issues adjusting to the Cardinals’ offense. “(It’s) very similar in Minnesota what we do,” he said to Cardinals color analyst Ron Wolfley, via the team’s Twitter account.

He did say one thing should help. “Hopefully we’ve got some better blockers up there (for him),” Arians said, referring to the hopeful return of D.J. Humphries and Alex Boone to the lineup. “That will help a little bit.”

Arians said the Cardinals’ offensive scheme will not change, although Peterson will be asked to do things his comfortable with.

“We’ll tailor it like we always do to the back, and he and I will visit and talk about what we do and what he likes and work from there.”
