Cardinals OC Harold Goodwin says Adrian Peterson 'has still got it'

“He looks fresh. He looks in shape, and never in my wildest dream did I think he would be on my team, but he is.”

Arizona Cardinals offensive coordinator is excited about the addition of running back Adrian Peterson. After Peterson’s first full padded practice on Thursday, Goodwin declared, “he’s still got it.”

“I’m excited, I really am,” he told reporters after practice. “For him, the style of runner he is, no matter how we block, I think he’s going to come out the other side for at least two to three more on his own, and that’s the exciting thing about having him.”

The Cardinals have had issues on the offensive line, which has led to the team ranking dead last in rushing yards per game and yards per rushing attempt.

Peterson brings some toughness to run through guys and gain yards even with contact. Goodwin knows the line has to block better, but he clearly thinks Peterson will add something to the offense that wasn’t there.

“He looks fresh. He looks in shape, and never in my wildest dream did I think he would be on my team, but he is.”
