Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Yasmany Tomas was arrested for criminal speeding Thursday morning on Loop 101 at Baseline Road, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

A motorcycle trooper pulled over Tomas in a black 2015 Mercedes S550 coupe going in excess of 105 miles per hour.

Tomas was also booked into 4th Avenue Jail for reckless driving. DPS said his vehicle was impounded.

"We are very disappointed to learn of this news," a Diamondbacks spokesperson said in a statement. "We are still gathering facts, and will refrain from further comment at this time as this is a pending legal matter.”

Authorities say Tomas could be facing up to 30 days in jail and a fine up to $500 on the criminal speeding charge while a reckless driving charge could lead to a suspended license.

Tomas hit 31 home runs in 140 games in 2016, but only played 47 games last season due to injury.
