This man is raising $100,000+ to build a shower and laundry trailer for the homeless

This man has a brilliant idea to help people without homes.

Meet Robert Thorton.

This man, who owns a clothing company in Phoenix, is on a mission, along with his team, to raise enough funds to get mobile showers and laundry trailers on the streets. They would be the first of their kind in Phoenix.

"We have launched a GoFundMe campaign because the homeless need a safe and free place to shower," said Robert Thorton the Executive Director of a non-profit called Cloud Covered Streets.

Robert said the mobile trailers will also provide haircuts and assist in finding jobs for people in need.

"With our mobile trailer we will be able to haul that around to different places around the Valley," said Thorton.

He said he wants people in need to feel safe and not worry about being mugged. Thorton mentions how many homeless people are not always willing to stay at a shelter.

"I will not go to a shelter ever again, I will not do it," said Travis Kendall, a Marine veteran.

Kendall, who is living homeless with his wife, said he had a bad experience at a shelter where many of his belongings were stolen.

"That mobile shower place is going to be somewhere public, it's going to be somewhere nice and clean," said Kendall.

A couple of churches and even an apartment complex have volunteered a certain amount of space in their premises to host the trailers, said Thorton.

We asked Thorton how he plans on spreading the word to people in need about the trailers. He said that the homeless community communicates very well and is pretty sure word will travel fast about the trailers.

"We will have two completely separate bathrooms and so, we will have a time limit, probably a 15- minute time limit [for people in need to shower and get ready]," said Thorton.

Thorton said he is trying to raise more than $100,000 for just one trailer. He is in hopes that at least he can get two or three trailers with this amount of money, if possible.

"There's a need and every major city has a homeless problem," said Thorton.

Until Thorton gets the sufficient amount of funds for the trailers, he will continue driving around Phoenix with his team handing out clothing and other donated goods to people in need.

"I just want to try and show people that we can make a huge change, something as little as $5, $10 or $20, donated to us, we can get this trailer built," said Thorton.

His heart is definitely in the right place.
