PHOENIX - Thanks to demands from “Rick and Morty” fans, McDonalds has brought back its Szchechuan dipping sauce for one day.
The mounting demand is due to an episode of the popular Adult Swim show that aired over the summer.
“I want that Mulan McNugget Sauce, Morty. That’s my series arc Morty! If it takes nine seasons, I want my McNugget dipping Szechuan Sauce, Morty!” Rick said in the episode.
The chain announced the return of the sauce – a mix of garlic, chili peppers and Szechuan peppers – as it debuted its new Crispy Buttermilk Tenders.
Oh…did-did you guys want this? 😜 Szechuan Sauce…on a poster & maybe your taste buds: only on 10/7. Full deets at https://t.co/7WUSDF1C3v pic.twitter.com/eT4PxW3fEi

Here in the Valley, the only locations that have the coveted condiment are in Tempe.
There’s one location in Flagstaff and one in Tucson that has Szechuan sauce.
So there’s the good news. The bad news is there’s an incredibly limited supply. Also, you can only get your hands on one packet of sauce inside the restaurant only, so get ready for long lines and crowded dining rooms.
The original sauce was part of a campaign promoting Disney’s “Mulan” in 1998.
