The elusive big cat has made another appearance in Arizona.
A Fort Huachuca trail camera in the Huachuca Mountains near Sierra Vista in southeastern Arizona captured a photo of a jaguar.
Now, officials with Arizona Game & Fish and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are working to determine whether this particular big cat has been seen before.
“Preliminary indications are that the cat is a male jaguar and, potentially, an individual not previously seen in Arizona,” said Dr. Benjamin Tuggle, regional director for the Southwest Region of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, in a release.“We are working with the Arizona Game and Fish Department to determine if this sighting represents a new individual jaguar.”
Officials say the public will be notified once they reach a conclusion about the cat's identity.
