PHOENIX (AP) - Opponents of photo speed and red light enforcement in Arizona are again trying to ban the devices in cities statewide.

The proposal is championed again this year by Republican Rep. Travis Grantham of Gilbert, who believes the electronic enforcement is unconstitutional. He told the House Judiciary Committee Wednesday that he believes drivers are being denied their right to confront their accuser when they receive tickets in the mail and that the systems increase accidents.

The panel advanced his proposal on a 6-3 vote.

Cities that use the cameras argue they cut down on accidents and free officers for other duties.
