Phoenix girl gets special wheelchair for her Cinderella-themed Halloween

A Phoenix girl received a Magic Wheelchair for her Cinderella-themed Halloween costume.

Peyton Thomas is an 8-year-old girl who loves Cinderella.

“She’s my favorite,” said Thomas.

So, it’s no wonder what she wanted to be for Halloween. The blonde haired, green eyes little girl couldn’t wait to put on a satin blue dress, sparkling slippers and a tiara.

“It’s all she’s been talking about, all she has been talking about,” her mom Ellexis Thomas said.

This Halloween would be the first in Arizona for the family, they recently moved to get better medical care for Peyton.

Back in March, during a snow storm in Michigan, Peyton, her sister Skarlett and their father Ryan were in a horrible car crash. Both Peyton and Scarlett suffered serious spinal injuries.

“(Peyton) was in the hospital for 100 days,” said Ellexis Thomas.

Skarlett would make a remarkable recovery as would Ryan but Peyton was paralyzed from the chest down.

“It’s been difficult,” Ellexis said. “It’s a challenge to do simple things.”

So this year for Halloween, Ellexis reached out to Magic Wheelchair. The company builds customized wheelchairs for kids with special needs.

“I never thought they would pick us,” said Ellexis.

Peyton’s application for a special wheelchair was selected from dozens and dozens of entries. Her request was no surprise -- she wanted a horse-drawn carriage like Cinderella.

The special wheelchair took several weeks to build, and on Halloween night Peyton saw it for the first time.

“It’s pretty cool,” said Peyton Thomas.

After spending about an hour at Pinky Posh Spa getting all dolled up for her special night, Peyton got to ride to the Halloween party in Fountain Hills in her horse-drawn carriage.

The carriage is equipped with remote control lights, simulated horses in front and a pumpkin-style cover.

The family was overwhelmed by the hospitality.

“It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Ellexis Thomas.
