Phoenix-area water parks are ripe for summer fun

Water parks as a way to escape the heat in the Valley this summer.

PHOENIX- The Valley's water parks are truly oases in the desert.

While they are outside in the heat, they have water rides, pools and games you can participate that can keep you cool while you have a good time.

Wet 'n' Wild near 43rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road, Big Surf  in Tempe off McClintock Drive north of Loop 202 and Golfland-Sunsplash in Mesa just off Country Club Road and the U.S. 60 are three of your options for water fun in the Valley.

The attractions at Wet 'N' Wild Phoenix are for all ages.

"We love being a part of this community," said Heather Austin from Wet 'N' Wild. "We live here. We’re always looking for ways to help improve the summer experience, make sure there’s plenty of ways to stay cool, have fun with their families and build great memories."

Before you head out to visit the parks, check the website in case of events, closures or any sort of weather-related events that may affect what parts of the park are open.

Wet 'N' Wild is hosting a special salute to heroes event during the Fourth of July weekend. Any active or retired military personnel, first responders such as police, fire or EMT, can get in for free. Up to six members of their family can get in at half off the regular price, plus there will be a fireworks show.

Shade, cold drinks and sunscreen are available to keep the temps down and protection from the sun, and as always keep an eye around your kids in and around the water.
