As the fireworks of July 4 fade away, new ones might be gearing up to go off, courtesy of Mother Nature.

In other words, the Valley could see the first storms of Monsoon 2017 very soon.

According to the National Weather Service, Monsoon moisture will be on the increase. Meaning, storms could be possible by the weekend.

A look at the seven-day forecast, shows the chance for storms in the Valley ranges from 10-20 percent starting Friday through next Tuesday.

She's turning up the heat too

It's getting dangerously hot this week.

An excessive heat warning is in effect until Friday at 8 p.m. Temperatures are forecast to exceed 110 degrees for the rest of the week through Saturday.

Breaking a century-old record

The hottest day this week will be Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast high for that day (July 7) is currently 116. If it reaches that high, Phoenix will break the record set back in 1905.
