Here’s what you need to know if you're driving this weekend, July 21-23. Commuters will not have to deal with any closures in the Valley this weekend, but will detour around a couple lane restrictions.
Surprisingly, there are no closures on the I-17 this weekend, but there is an overnight lane restriction for a few hours. The I-17 southbound is narrowed to two lanes (left lanes closed) overnight between Dunlap Avenue and Bethany Home Road for overhead sign improvements. This restriction takes place from Saturday night at 7 p.m. to Sunday at 7 a.m. Commuters should allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely when approaching the work zone. Please watch for highway workers and equipment.

In addition to the I-17 lane restriction, the west Valley has an area commuters will have plan ahead for too. I-10 westbound is narrowed to one lane overnight at 59th Avenue for bridge construction at Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange, from Sunday at 9 p.m. till Monday at 5 a.m. I-10 westbound will also be closed intermittently at 59th Avenue for brief periods overnight. I-10 westbound traffic will use off- and on-ramps at 59th Avenue during intermittent closures. Drivers should allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes.
There are chances of some monsoon storms in the forecast, so plan ahead before heading outside for any activities. Thank you for stopping by and have a fun and safe weekend!
