Commuters will deal with a handful of closures throughout the Valley this weekend.
I-10 westbound is closed at 59th Avenue for bridge construction at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange, Friday 10 p.m. until Sunday 8 a.m. I-10 westbound on-ramps at 43rd and 51st avenues are also closed. I-10 westbound traffic will detour along the off- and on-ramps at 59th Avenue. Drivers can use Loop 101 westbound/southbound in the west Valley as an alternate route.
I-10 westbound will close again overnight on Sunday at 59th Avenue for bridge work at the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway interchange, Sunday 9 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Traffic will detour along off- and on-ramps at 59th Avenue. Alternate routes include Loop 101 in west Valley.
The I-17 northbound and southbound on- and off-ramps at Yorkshire Drive/Utopia Road are closed Friday 9 p.m. until Saturday 5 p.m. In addition to that closure, Yorkshire Drive/Utopia Road is closed in both directions near I-17 for installation of the wrong-way vehicle detection system. Drivers can use Union Hills Drive or Rose Garden Lane as an alternate route.
The I-17 northbound and southbound off-ramps at Northern Avenue are closed from Friday 9 p.m. until noon on Saturday. Driver should consider using Glendale or Dunlap avenues.
I-10 HOV-lane on- and off-ramps at 3rd Street are closed near downtown Phoenix for pavement joint maintenance, Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Alternate routes include the on- or off-ramps at 7th Street or 7th Avenue.
Final closure of the weekend is in north Phoenix. The I-17 northbound ramp to Loop 101 eastbound is narrowed to one lane, Saturday 9 p.m. until Sunday 2 p.m. This closure is for the wrong-way vehicle detection system. Both the Loop 101 eastbound and westbound ramps to I-17 southbound are also narrowed to one lane. In addition to these closures, the I-17 southbound off-ramp at Yorkshire Drive is closed. Please use caution and be prepared to slow down.
