Weekend traffic report for March 5 - March 8

There are a few road closures and detours in the Valley this weekend. Vanessa Ramirez has the details for March 5, 2021.

PHOENIX — Here’s a breakdown of the closures and restrictions you can expect to see around the Valley this weekend.

North Valley

  • Loop 101 westbound is closed between 7th Street and 27th Avenue for a widening project from Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. SR 51 northbound ramp to Loop 101 westbound is closed too. Loop 101 westbound on-ramp at Cave Creek Road is also closed. Loop 101 westbound traffic exiting at 7th Street can travel north to westbound Deer Valley Road and use southbound 19th Avenue to the westbound Beardsley frontage road to travel beyond closure. Alternate routes include exiting Loop 101 westbound ahead of the closure and using westbound Bell Road, Union Hills Drive or Deer Valley Road to reach I-17 or 27th/35th avenues (to access Loop 101). SR 51 northbound traffic can exit to northbound Black Mountain Boulevard and use westbound Deer Valley Road.

West Valley

  • Loop 101 southbound is narrowed to one lane overnight in areas between Thunderbird Road and I-10 for pavement maintenance. This takes place Sunday through Wednesday nights from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m. Be prepared for closures of Loop 101 southbound on- or off-ramps at times. ADOT is working to limit impacts on travel to COVID-19 Vaccination Site at State Farm Stadium. Crews will work within approximately 3-mile stretches each night.

East Valley

  • Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) is restricted with intermittent rolling closures in both directions overnight in areas between I-10 and Kyrene Road in Chandler for overhead utility line work from Saturday 7 p.m. to Sunday 4 a.m. All I-10 ramps to Loop 202 eastbound are also closed. Law enforcement officers will slow or hold traffic for up to 15 minutes each time as needed for the utility work. I-10 drivers can consider using Chandler Boulevard as an alternate route. I-10 traffic also can exit to eastbound Queen Creek Road (SR 347 exit) and use northbound Price Road to reach Loop 202.

As always, please stay alert and be prepared to slow down and merge safely when approaching and traveling through work zones.
