NEW RIVER, Ariz. — The Arizona Department of Transportation is warning motorists to expect delays along Interstate 17, north of Anthem, due to the Labor Day traffic.

The freeway's northbound lanes have been experiencing major delays Friday afternoon due to holiday travel and a crash near Sunset Point.

The right lane is blocked off by a crash at milepost 252 near Sunset Point and heavy delays are stretching down to milepost 225, just south of Anthem.

ADOT is advising motorists to consider delaying their travel plans until the backup clears. The agency has no estimated time to open the right lane or for the delays to diminish.
