Commuters will detour around a few closures in the West Valley, Phoenix area and East Valley.

This first closure has been taking place every weekend, but on different parts of the I-17.

This weekend the I-17 southbound is closed between the Stack and 19th Avenue for rubberized asphalt paving, Friday 10 p.m. to Monday 5 a.m. Also, both I-10 ramps to the I-17 southbound are closed.

Commuters should consider using SR-51 southbound to the I-10 or local traffic can exit at Thomas or McDowell roads and use the southbound frontage road or southbound 19th or 27th avenues.

Van Buren Street is closed in both directions at the I-17 for new pedestrian-fence installation. Loop 101 and I-17 southbound traffic exiting at Indian School Road can use the southbound frontage road or southbound 19th or 27th avenues. Expect heavy traffic and allow extra travel time due to this closure.

The next weekend closure is on a part of the US 60. The US 60 westbound on- and off-ramps at Val Vista Drive are closed for pavement improvements, Friday 9 p.m. till Monday 5 a.m. In addition to that closure, Val Vista Drive is narrowed to one lane in each direction at US 60. Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes, including Gilbert or Greenfield roads.

Now to the final closure of the weekend, Loop 303 southbound is closed between Indian School and McDowell roads for overhead sign installation Friday 10 p.m. till Saturday 7 a.m. Please consider alternate routes, such as southbound Perryville Road, Cotton Lane or Estrella Parkway.

It’s going to be a warm weekend with triple-digit temps so stay cool and have a fabulous weekend!
