PHOENIX - Daniel Suarez is living the dream.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver was born in Monterrey, Mexico and had always dreamed of driving in the big league for NASCAR.

Suarez made that dream a reality a few weeks ago when he raced in the Daytona 500.

This week, Suarez will be back in the Valley in the Camping World 500 at the Phoenix International Raceway. That track has a special place in his heart.

"One of my first races was here in Phoenix," Suarez told 12 Today in September of 2016. "Since then, I just like this place. It's like my second home... a lot of fans... a lot of people who support me a lot. So, I really like this place a lot."

Suarez won at PIR in the NASCAR Mexico Series Toyota 120 in 2014. Since then, he's gone on to win the NASCAR XFINITY Series and take his number 19 Toyota Camry to the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and race on Sundays.

"A lot of people believe in me, not just this year or last year, but five years ago when things were a little tough," Suarez told 12 Today. "Lately -- thanks to a lot of people -- it's been much better."

PIR is honoring Daniel Suarez with a ticket deal for Sunday's race. Tickets are just $19 and you'll be entered into a drawing to win a chance to meet Suarez.
