The Arizona Cardinals activated linebacker Deone Bucannon from the PUP (physically unable to perform) list this week. This will allow him to practice, although he will not yet participate in full team drills. That hopefully will come next week.
But while the Cardinals are holding him back a little bit longer, Bucannon is chomping at the bit.
“He’s ready to hit somebody, that’s for sure, and hopefully it’s not me,” Cardinals coach Bruce Arians joked on Wednesday with the media. “He’s ready. He’s out there running in the heat and doing everything he needs to do; just getting still some of that last bit of stiffness out.”
Bucannon has been sidelined since offseason ankle surgery in May.
Arians has said Bucannon is on schedule to be able to start in Week 1 when the Cardinals take on the the Detroit Lions in the season opener. The worst-case scenario is being ready in Week 3 when the Cardinals have their home opener.
