The Phoenix Suns season is off to a dismal start.
Despite one of the worst losses ever in their opening game, the Suns did notch a win against the Sacramento Kings. But a 1-3 record just isn't cutting it for Phoenix fans. One in particular more than others it appears.
Alex, a Suns fan for over 10 years, he claims, has started a GoFundMe to raise money for a billboard that will display the hashtag: "#SarverOut." It's a message to Suns owner Robert Sarver.
"We're all frustrated with the embarrassing and painful decline of our Suns organization over the last 5+ years," he writes. "We've made changes to our players, coaching staff, and management, but one group hasn't changed - ownership."
The goal for the campaign was $1,650, which would, according to Alex, cover one digital billboard for a week. Anything additional would got either go to more billboards or a longer runtime for the one.
The campaign surpassed its goal thanks to 80 people in 1 day. At the time of this post the '#SarverOut Billboard' campaign has raised $2,767.
"Always a fan of the NBA. the Phoenix Suns, the Fans, the City of Phoenix and Arizona deserve more than Robert Sarver. Enough is enough!" A donor wrote.
Sarver has been the Suns' owner for over a decade. He penned a letter over a year ago telling fans "you have my word that we will do things the right way, and you and your family will be proud to be Suns fans."
