D-backs off to sizzling start: Win franchise-record first 4 series to start season

They've been hotter than Phoenix in April.

Colorado Rockies, check. Los Angeles Dodgers, check. St. Louis Cardinals, check. San Francisco Giants, check. The Arizona Diamondbacks beat them all.

The D-backs are off to a hot start, one of the best in the franchise's 20-year history.

By beating the Giants 7-3 on Wednesday, the D-backs clinched their fourth straight series win to start a season, a franchise first.

The team has basically done it all without superstar slugger Paul Goldschmidt, whose bat has apparently been sleeping to start the season. Through his first eight games, Goldschmidt was 3 for 30, batting a shockingly low .100.

But he seemed to leave that slump in San Francisco. Goldschmidt smack two homers and was 5 for 12 in the series.

Up next, the D-backs will head to Los Angeles looking for their fifth series win and another possible sweep of the Dodgers.
