PHOENIX - Christmas eve at Sky Harbor International Airport was a busy place on Saturday.

But it was easy to spot the Chandler Wolves when they returned from Texas.

You just had to look for the big, shiny trophy the team was carrying.

The Wolves returned to Phoenix Saturday afternoon after beating Georgia 6A state champions Valdosta in the Geico State Champions Bowl Series 44-24.

"It was awesome," said quarterback Jacob Conover. "We wanted to rep Arizona."

Conover, who won the game's MVP award, and the Wolves certainly represented Arizona well.

Chandler's 20 point victory was a statement win for the program, and for high school football in Arizona.

"It's huge, I think that we can play with anybody in the country. I think it opens up a lot more doors for teams in Arizona to play on a national level. I'm glad we were here to represent Arizona and get away with a win," said head coach Shaun Aguano.

Running back T.J. Green ran for 183 yards and two touchdowns while wide receiver Gunner Romney reeled in 10 passes for 172 yards and two scores.

Chandler made a statement on Friday night.

The Wolves helped put Arizona high school football on the map.
