PHOENIX - Phoenix Police and Silent Witness are hoping someone recognizes the man who stole numerous cartons of cigarettes from a Valley convenience store and another man who stole a knife and cash from a woman's purse at a Party City.

The cigarette theft happened at the Circle K on Broadway and 7th Ave. on May 24, 2017.

Surveillance video shows a man, with a shirt wrapped around his head and carrying a black and white duffel bag, enter the store. The man then walks behind the register counter and immediately begins dumping cartons of cigarettes in the bag, then walks out.

"When an item is stolen in quantities like that, it's not for personal use usually. It's usually sold or traded for something else. The question is where did it go?," said Sgt. Jamie Rothschild, who's with Silent Witness.

Phoenix Police and Silent Witness are also hoping to find the man who went into the Party City at 27th Ave. and Peoria Ave. on April 26, 2017.

Surveillance video shows the man walks into the store and looks like any other customer. But he opens a door and goes to an office area that's restricted for customers.

The man tries to open a safe, but it's locked.

"So he goes over and looks around and sees an employees purse and reaches in and takes some items out of there," Sgt. Rothschild said.

Those items include cash and a knife. After that, the man leaves the store.

If you recognize the men in the surveillance video, you're asked to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. You can remain anonymous and receive a reward of up to $1,000.
