A federal judge has signed off on a $15 billion Volkswagen emissions settlement.
The money will settle most of the claims that stem from emissions-cheating software installed on vehicles.
Starting Tuesday, about 475,000 Volkswagen owners and Audi owners with 2-liter, four-cylinder diesel engines can seek massive buy backs from Volkswagen.
The automaker is also covering legal fees and costs.
More than 3,000 owners have opted out of the settlement.
The deal only covers the 2-liter vehicles, not the larger 3-liter 6-cylinder diesels, which also had the cheating software.
Eligible owners must submit claims by Sept. 1, 2018, and can visit VWCourtSettlement.com for more information.
