Will Ferrell watches the second round match between Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and Mackenzie McDonald of the United States on day three of the 2018 Australian Open at Melbourne Park on January 17, 2018 in Melbourne, Australia.

Will Ferrell has been released from the hospital "unhurt" and full of gratitude following a serious car accident on Thursday night.

Ferrell and his colleague, Andrew Steele, were not seriously injured in the accident and released from an Orange County hospital, according to a statement released Friday by Ferrell's agents at United Talent Agency.

Ferrell's longtime driver, Mark Thompson, and another colleague, Carolina Barlow, remain hospitalized in stable condition.

"Will is staying close by as his friends are being treated, and has expressed his deep gratitude to the first responders who were immediately at the scene and to the hospital team that took such great care of them," according to UTA's statement. "He’s also grateful for all the well wishes he and his friends are receiving.

Ferrell was traveling back to Los Angeles after hosting a Funny or Die voter registration event in San Diego as his character Ron Burgundy. The accident happened when the SUV Ferrell's crew was traveling in "was struck on the freeway by another vehicle," the statement said.

The collision occurred on Interstate 5 around at 11 p.m., according to E! News.

Ferrell can be seen in the back of an ambulance in footage shared by TMZ.

A report from the California Highway Patrol obtained by the Associated Press states that a 2007 Toyota vehicle struck the tail of the SUV believed to have been transporting Ferrell on the right, causing it to roll over after colliding with the center divider.

Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz told the AP the three male passengers in the SUV sustained minor injuries. A 27-year-old woman, who was not wearing her seatbelt, suffered critical injuries, AP reports. The outlet also says the driver of the Toyota walked away unharmed.

Billy Eichner, who hosted the voter registration event, tweeted Friday he was not in the car with Ferrell, who he said is OK.

"Will and everyone are ok. Very scary but very thankful everyone is ok," he wrote.

Actor Jason Alexander offered his condolences to Ferrell on Twitter. "Thoughts and love out to Will Ferrell and his friends and family today," he wrote. "Quick healing. Godspeed."
