PHOENIX - A woman walked out of a pickup truck Monday afternoon after a major crash in Phoenix, but she was taken to a hospital in critical condition, fire officials said.

The right front of the truck was totally destroyed in the crash near 19th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Fire officials helped the woman get out of the truck once they arrived on the scene, but she was able to walk under her own power.

After she walked a few steps, fire and medical personnel put her on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

It's not clear what caused the crash, but there was damage to a pole and a fence in the area.
