Scottsdale, Ariz. -- Around 2 a.m. Thursday morning a woman in her 20s picked up an Uber ride in downtown Scottsdale.

After traveling north, the woman unexpectedly jumped out of the Uber car at Hayden and Chaparral, ran across the road and was struck by a jeep.

She is currently in the hospital in critical condition and intoxication is being investigated.

The Uber driver and driver of the jeep cooperated with Scottsdale police.

The intersection remained closed until 5:30 a.m. and has since reopened.
