TEMPE, Ariz. - The Tempe Police Department is asking the public to help identify a man who nearly beat a hotel manager to death back in July.

Police released video of the brutal beating, which was captured by security cameras, in order to help identify the suspect.

According to police, the suspect went the Motel 6 located near Priest Drive and Broadway Road on July 10 around 6:30 p.m., where he nearly beat a hotel manager to death.

The footage shows the suspect punch the hotel manager in the face, knocking him unconscious.

In the video the suspect is then seeing kicking and repeatedly punching the victim in the face.

“There are no words to describe the pain we're going through and continuing to go through,” the victim’s daughter, who we’ll refer to as 'SG', told 12 News.

SG asked that 12 News not reveal her identity out of fears for her family’s safety.

Family members told 12 news the 61-year-old victim suffered permanent brain damage and is still going through an extremely difficult recovery.

The man's daughter also spoke about how the attack has devastated their family.

"I don't have the words to describe how horrendous it was to watch that (video of the attack)," the victim's daughter told 12 News, "he bent down and went after my father even after he was passed out."

There was a verbal altercation between the suspect and the staff member regarding a room at the hotel, police said.

Officers say the hotel manager had refused to let the suspect back in his room after the suspect allegedly broke several hotel policies including brining banned items onto the property.

The suspect, who police describe as a 30-year-old black man, ran from the area.

The victim’s family is now pleading for the public’s help to identify and arrest the man she says nearly killed her father.

SG says police have been in contact with several people who were with the suspect at the hotel that day but they are refusing to cooperate with police.

“To know every single day that this person is living his life without any consequences, none, is so disheartening and I’m so disappointed in the people that have the information police need but are not providing it,” SG said.

The suspect is 6-feet tall, weighs 200-220 pounds, has short dark hair and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt, light-colored camouflaged shorts and black and white tennis shoes.

If you have any information about the identity of the suspect, Tempe police ask that you call them at 480-350-8311.
