TEMPE, Ariz. - Tempe police are investigating several incidents of child pornography mailed to residents near Ash Avenue and University Drive.
Police said they received three calls from residents around 9th Street and Farmer Avenue in Tempe, alerting them about child pornography they found inside their mailboxes.
After asking around the area, nine envelops were collected. The envelopes didn’t have a return address and were generically addressed, police said.
Police do not believe a child is in immediate danger.
Police said the envelops contain images that are known child pornography and have been widely distributed prior to this most recent occurrence.
Tempe police said members of the media may have made copies of the envelopes and or its contents in attempt to keep others informed but in doing so have, unknowingly, violated the law. 12 News did not make any copies.
The case has been turned over to their Criminal Investigations Bureau for further investigation, Tempe PD said.
