Sponsored safety messages on Mesa fire engine to benefit community projects

Money collected from the sponsored messages goes back to the community through education programs.

MESA, Ariz. - One fire engine out of Mesa Fire Station 208 is now sporting a new look.

A sponsored safety message reads, "Stay Safe. Clean Your Chimney & Dryer Vent Regularly."

It’s located near the rear of the truck and is sponsored by Arizona Chimney and Air Ducts, a company based out of Phoenix. The message is sponsored - not the truck.

“Safety messages with community involvement. It's a sponsor for our safety message on our truck. Any money that is collected in our program goes right back into our community through education programs. So, it's a win - win for everybody,” said Mesa fire chief Mary Cameli.

Sponsorships will help fund community programs like CPR classes, smoke detectors and social services programs.

Mesa has plans to roll out more sponsored messages on other trucks. Sponsorships cost $15,000 for one year.

“I think whenever you can help your first responders not have budget cuts. To be a part of history, I think. A lot of companies are going to want to get in on this because you’re promoting a public safety message. You’re saving lives, keeping people from getting hurt, saving homes. When we heard about it, we just wanted to do it,” said Becky Derendal, owner of Arizona Chimney & Air Ducts.
