PHOENIX - Maricopa County Recorder Helen Purcell is still locked in a tight race for reelection three days after Arizona's primary election.

Purcell currently leads challenger Aaron Flannery by 298 votes, according to an update from Purcell's office, which tabulates all the county's votes.

Flannery has 152,204 votes (49.95 percent) to Purcell's 152,502 (50.05 percent).

According to a release from the recorder's office, there are approximately 3,225 provisional ballots and 5,200 early ballots left to be counted as of Friday evening.

Purcell came under fire earlier this year when March's presidential preference election saw five-hour-long lines after the county decreased the number of polling centers from 200 in 2012 to 60 in 2016.
