Police: Peoria officers uninjured after shooting, suspect in custody

According to the police, the suspect caused an five-car crash on 83rd Avenue between Thunderbird and Wacker roads, and was spotted by a Peoria police officer attempting to leave the scene.

PEORIA, Ariz. - The Peoria Police Department was involved in a shooting Wednesday morning near 79th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

Police said the suspect, 24-year-old Jaime Longoria Valenzuela, was taken to a hospital and no officers were injured.

According to the police, the suspect caused an five-car crash on 83rd Avenue between Thunderbird and Wacker roads.

Police said the suspect was spotted by a Peoria police officer attempting to leave the scene. The suspect pointed a gun at the officer and ran.

According to police, the suspect jumped over fences in the area before running into a second officer. The suspect shot at the officer and the officer returned fire.

Police said a third officer shot the suspect on 79th Avenue between Wacker and Thunderbird roads.
