PHOENIX - The Ellen Mother’s Day show is something hundreds of thousands of moms wish they could be a part of, but only a few hundred lucky first time mamas like Ashley Shaw will get a chance to sit in the studio audience.
“Being surrounded by all the pregnant women, we were dancing during the commercial breaks," Shaw said. "Seeing Ellen and being so closed to Ellen, it was so fun."
One of the many perks of watching the show live is taking home about 6,000 dollars worth of free baby goodies.
“We got this 4Moms stroller which is so awesome," Shaw said. "It charges your phone as you stroll.”
And it tracks your mileage and calories burned, along with brake lights and headlights. That’s not all, Shaw was also given the new 4Moms Self-Installing Car Seat.
“So there’s an app that you download and it lets you know if the car seat is level," she said.
It also alerts parents when the carrier is left in the base, reminding them not to leave their children in their vehicles.
“I also got a Kate Spade diaper bag," she said. "My first Kate Spade bag.”
She also took home a Babymoon, a high chair, diapers for a year and so much more.
“It was just like one thing after the next," she said. "Oh my gosh, how am I going to get this all home? This is so awesome.”
After two miscarriages and fertility treatments, all while taking care of post-partum moms as a nurse in the Valley, it’s a journey filled with so many more surprises than Shaw thought her growing family would ever be blessed with.
“I always remained hopeful that it would be our turn and I know that good things come to those who wait," she said. "So, we stuck through it and here we are at 29 weeks, which I never thought we would say, but here we are.”
Now all that’s left to do is wait for their baby boy to arrive around Sept. 26 and figure out how some of these apps work with all of the new, hi-tech gifts.
