TEMPE, Ariz. - More than 20,000 people participated in a walk to raise money to fight breast cancer Saturday, according to the American Cancer Society.

Participants in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event gathered at Tempe Beach Park to celebrate breast cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to the disease and raise funds to further research and provide programs and services to patients.

The American Cancer Society said more than $1 million was raised at the event.
