MESA, Ariz. - Mesa Police say they are investigating after a pipe bomb went off in a park.
Police spokesperson Det. Nikolas Rasheta says around police received a call around 8:30 Thursday night about an explosion in Chelsea Park, near Main Street and Val Vista.
When officers got to the park they found pieces of a pipe bomb-type device, officials say.
Rasheta says this is an active investigation and detectives will follow up in the area to determine who is responsible for setting off the device.
No injuries were reported from the explosion, according to police.
Chelsea Park is in a water retention basin away from any property. Police did not say what kind of explosive was used in the pipe bomb.
